Capcom has officially confirmed the ninth entry in the Resident Evil video game series, “Resident Evil Requiem,” which will launch on February 27, 2026. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam.
The announcement came during Summer Game Fest 2025 in Los Angeles. Earlier in the show, Capcom teased the upcoming 30th anniversary of the franchise and hinted at a new installment. However, the company initially shared no footage or release date. Surprisingly, the trailer and official launch date dropped as the final reveal of the event.
Capcom game director Jun Takeuchi expressed gratitude in a video message:
“Thanks to all of you, Resident Evil is about to celebrate its 30th anniversary this coming March. We truly appreciate your continued support. Now, about the latest Resident Evil game you’ve all been waiting for—bear with us just a blink of an eye longer, and it’ll be ready.”
Resident Evil Village, the eighth game in the mainline series, debuted in 2021. Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara originally developed the first Resident Evil, which launched in 1996 on the PlayStation. Over the years, the franchise has evolved into a global phenomenon, spawning numerous sequels, remakes, films, and TV adaptations.
Now, as Resident Evil nears its 30-year milestone, Requiem aims to continue the series’ survival horror legacy and offer fans another unforgettable experience.
